How Bill and Therese Met

Therese and Bill met online. Having just moved to Salem, Oregon, Therese did not know many people outside of the law school at Willamette. She was eager to meet someone who wasn't interested in becoming a lawyer, or to just make a new friend. Therese found Bill's profile and was impressed enough to send him a message. She liked that he was well-travelled and was an urban planner.

Fast forward a few months later and Bill finally writes her back. Fortunately for Bill, Therese loves to meet new people and is quick to forgive, so she agreed to meet him for a beer. Therese and Bill met on May 1, 2010 at Venti's in downtown Salem. Therese quizzed Bill about his travels to all fifty states and Bill appreciated that Therese did most of the talking.

Their second date was an epic 12-hour bi-state date to Portland that took them from the Japanese Gardens to the just-opened Apex, to Therese's first roller derby bout, and finally to dinner and a stroll along the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington. Bill was sure he'd blown it by trying to tackle too much on a second date. However, Therese loved it and was even more enamored with Bill! They've been having adventures together ever since.

The proposal

Bill and Therese got engaged on a beach at Ecola State Park, just outside Cannon Beach, Oregon. Therese and Bill both love the sea and Bill knew it would be the perfect spot. It took some planning and determination on Bill's part to finally find a weekend where Therese had not made plans for the two of them. They were engaged on November 1, 2014.
